Wind Turbine Acoustics Engineer
GE Vernova
Job Description SummaryAs an Acoustics Engineer, you will join the System Simulation Organization and play a critical role in analyzing, designing and optimizing the acoustic performance of wind turbine systems, enhancing both product quality and customer satisfaction. Focusing on aerodynamic noise, you will collaborate with multiple engineering teams (especially Blade Design, Aerodynamics and Validation) and other designated experts across System Simulation to ensure that GE Vernova wind platforms meet their acoustic requirements. You will also design and conduct experimental tests on a regular basis to assess both airfoil-level and full-scale rotor performance, verify simulation results, identify noise source mechanisms and validate proposals for acoustic improvements.Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Carry out analytical and CFD-based (Computational Fluid Dynamics) aeroacoustic and aerodynamic calculations to evaluate noise emission from wind turbinesInteract with blade designers and other Wind System engineers to integrate acoustic considerations into wind turbine design and operationAssess design risks and establish validation plans for new acoustic concepts, both in the context of wind tunnel and full-scale rotor measurementsPerform field measurements and data analysis to quantify acoustic performance and define corrective actions as neededInteract with acoustic tool developers and provide inputs to build the next tool’s generationProvide analysis to support the development of wind farm noise models and identify farm level noise mitigation methodsPrepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively to key stakeholdersRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Acoustical Engineering or equivalent knowledge/experienceDesired Characteristics
Demonstrated knowledge of fluid dynamics, aerodynamics or acoustics Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Acoustical EngineeringExperience with experimental or computational methods for acoustics, fluid dynamics and aerodynamicsExperience in aeroacoustic theory as applied to trailing edge noise, boundary layer noise, fan noise or turbomachinery noiseAbility to write clean and well-documented codes in Python and Matlab languagesFamiliarity with wind turbine design, operation and MBS (Multi-Body Simulation) software packages would be considered a plusStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasetsSolid oral and written communication skills. Effective collaboration skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyGE Vernova offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
