Increasing our Membership base sits at the core of the company’s growth. As Manager of Membership Experience at Sam’s Club, you will play an important part in driving Membership growth for years to come by owning work to improve the end-to-end member experience across join, upgrade, renewal, and onboarding. This position will work out of our Bentonville, AR office and report to the Director of Membership Experience. This highly visible and influential role will be accountable for strategic initiatives aligned to membership experience.

What you'll do...

What You'll Do:

Develop and Enhance Membership Acquisition Strategies: Conduct and direct competitive analyses, utilize Member research, examine external partner capabilities, and integrate data from various analyses to recommend new product offerings and collaborate with other departments (e.g., Marketing, DotCom) in implementing and enhancing programs.Strategic Planning and Recommendations: Gather and analyze marketplace and competitive intelligence, identify strategic market opportunities, recommend strategic and tactical business proposals, and partner with key stakeholders on the refinement of targeted acquisition strategies based on segmentation and analysis.Design and Implement New Strategies: Lead the design, analysis, and implementation of new strategic Membership acquisition strategies to align with trends and relevant Member needs, support the growth of Membership, and negotiate complex business arrangements with potential partners.Improve Business Performance: Anticipate and proactively plan for methods to improve business performance for Membership acquisition products and services by collaborating with external groups (e.g., Marketing, DotCom, Information Systems Division), developing new Member acquisition strategies, determining business requirements and metrics, creating and executing business plans, and leading cross-functional project teams.Develop Relationships with External Parties: Interface with executives and leadership teams, influence partners' business models, ensure optimal terms for new Membership acquisition strategies, and foster long-term sustainable relationships.Navigate Business Hurdles: Obtain necessary resources to accomplish team goals, present business proposals to senior management, conceptualize new system applications or enhancements, and communicate issues with and recommend solutions to peers, team, and upper management.Ensure Compliance: Stay abreast of current and pending legislation, monitor audit findings, identify and correct noncompliance, and ensure compliance with internal standards and external requirements.Recommend Revenue and Profit Goals: Establish forecasted growth based on trends, current and past business performance, business opportunities, competitive market share, Member needs, and the competition, and present project budgets and forecasts for approval.Conceptualize New Technology Applications: Examine and integrate business opportunities, Member needs, competitor and industry trends, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and develop recommendations for implementation.Drive Execution of Business Plans: Identify customer and operational needs, develop and communicate business plans and priorities, remove barriers and obstacles that impact performance, provide resources, identify performance standards, measure progress, and adjust performance accordingly.Provide Supervision and Development Opportunities: Select and train associates, mentor, assign duties, build a team-based work environment, establish performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, provide recognition and rewards, coach for success and improvement, and ensure diversity awareness.Promote and Support Company Policies: Train and provide direction to others in the use and application of company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity, ensure compliance with them, and utilize and support the Open Door Policy.Own and Optimize Membership Retention Strategy: Develop and optimize the Sam’s membership retention strategy, including segmentation, messaging, and engagement tactics.Lead Performance Tracking and Reporting: Track and report performance for membership upgrade and renewal KPIs, using tools like Excel, Tableau, and Looker to create dashboards and actionable insights.Drive Initiatives to Improve Retention: Partner with Marketing, Product, and Member Experience teams to drive initiatives that improve retention and increase LTV.Analyze Member Behaviors: Analyze Member behaviors across lifecycle stages to identify key drop-off points and recommend targeted interventions.Manage Project Timelines and Deliverables: Develop and manage project timelines and deliverables across cross-functional teams.Present Findings and Recommendations: Present findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership with clarity and confidence.

What You'll Bring:

Expertise in Sam's Club Member Acquisition.Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.Ability to lead and implement new strategies.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements.Experience in developing and executing business plans.Ability to navigate business hurdles and present proposals to senior management.Proficiency in conceptualizing new technology applications.Strong leadership and team development skills.Commitment to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.3+ years of relevant experience in customer retention, performance marketing, or lifecycle strategy, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior role.Proven ability to develop and execute retention strategies that reduce churn and increase customer lifetime value (LTV).Strong communication skills with experience presenting insights and strategy to senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.Demonstrated success in project management, including leading cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution.Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization, including hands-on experience with Excel, Tableau, and/or Looker.Deep understanding of customer lifecycle management, key engagement touchpoints, and LTV modeling.Experience working within membership, subscription, or recurring revenue business models.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
