Trade Compliance Analyst

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all relevant trade regulations and laws. This role involves analyzing and facilitating free trade agreements, supporting drawback processes, and ensuring adherence to import/export and supply chain security compliance requirements. The Trade Compliance Specialist will work collaboratively with various internal departments and external stakeholders to support the company’s global operations. **In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:** + Support Emerson Global Trade Compliance efforts to maintain and enhance processes related to imports, exports, and trade programs. + Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. and international trade regulations, including customs laws, export controls, and sanctions programs. + Perform legislative and regulatory impact analysis and monitor updates that may affect trade operations. + Conduct export transaction screening, escalate concerns as needed, and determine export license requirements. + Analyze and determine proper jurisdiction and classification of company products, technology, and services. + Apply for export licenses with relevant government authorities (e.g., BIS) and monitor status. + Support annual U.S. Customs reconciliation processes and maintain accurate documentation. + Collaborate with programmers and business analysts to maintain trade compliance system functionality, suggest enhancements, and perform break/fix analysis. + Manage trade compliance-related orders through various web-based tools and customer-specific platforms. + Perform compliance audits on import/export activities and implement corrective actions based on findings. + Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to ensure smooth transaction flow. + Facilitate Free Trade Agreement (FTA) assessments, qualifications, and documentation to maximize cost savings. + Support duty drawback programs, including coordination with customs brokers and tracking of refunds. + Work with internal stakeholders—including sourcing, procurement, logistics, and product teams—to ensure compliance and efficiency in global trade operations. + Maintain and improve cross-functional relationships to drive system and process improvements across operations. + Participate in and lead training activities related to trade compliance and regulatory updates. + Complete complex shipping documentation, including customer-specific forms and declarations. + Respond to government and corporate audits, inquiries, and compliance investigations. + Support strategic initiatives with the Global Trade Compliance team and seek opportunities for automation and innovation. + Perform other duties as assigned. **Who You Are:** + Known for asking the right questions, you excel at analyzing complex situations and taking decisive action in fast-changing environments. You thrive in fast-paced settings, communicate with clarity, and love building strong, collaborative relationships across teams and with external partners! **For This Role, You Will Need:** + Bachelor’s degree required (International Business, Logistics, Finance, or related field preferred). + 3–5 years of experience in International Trade Compliance, Customs, or a related field. + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment. **Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:** + Working knowledge of U.S. trade regulations including the EAR, CBP, and FTSR. + Understanding of global logistics, customs clearance, and supply chain practices. + Strong verbal and written communication skills + Familiarity with Fisher products and Emerson systems (preferred but not required). + Self-motivated and adaptable to changing regulatory and business needs. + Experience completing trade compliance documentation and monitoring internet-based tracking tools. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; MS Access experience preferred. + Certification in trade compliance (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist) is a plus. **Our Culture & Commitment to You:** At Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
