Role Purpose (Summary of position)
The Head of Real World Data (RWD) leads a multidisciplinary team of Quantitative Scientists (incl. epidemiologists and biostatisticians) and RWD domain experts that provide real world evidence and data access expertise to the Diagnostics division. The scope covers a wide range of business critical analysis, including evidence generation with RWD studies, the use of RWD to demonstrate clinical and health economics efficacy of digital health and diagnostics products in real-world settings, use of claims data and electronic health record (EHR) databases to explore, confirm and validate product functionality and to inform product-pricing strategies. Foster and catalyze adoption of RWD within and beyond Roche, act as thought leader in conversations with regulatory agencies and industry consortia.
Responsibilities include:
Team and Strategic Leadership
Establish and implement a strategic vision to achieve business objectives, standards, and deadlines.
Build strong relationships within Roche, particularly with RIS, Diagnostics Life cycle, market access, medical affairs and affiliates teams , and other RWD teams.
Cultivate a supportive and inclusive team environment that fosters innovation and challenges the status quo.
Plan and control the functional budget
RWD Leadership and Development
Champion the use of RWD within the Diagnostics division to enhance products and services.
Collaborate across departments on RWD studies, ensuring the implementation of innovative data sources and methodologies.
Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and experts in the RWD field.
Drive the adoption of RWD and evidence generation within the Diagnostics industry. Act as thought leader in conversations with regulatory agencies and industry consortia
Ensure new and innovative data sources, quantitative techniques and methods are implemented as appropriate to business needs
Team Management and Development
Oversee RWD resource allocation to prioritize projects and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Manage all aspects of team leadership, including recruitment, training, goal setting, and performance assessment.
Maintain and improve the quality system while achieving quality objectives.
Foster knowledge sharing and talent development within the team.
Manage succession planning and the functional budget.
Overall, this role requires a balance of strategic vision, relationship building, strong stakeholder management, team leadership, and a deep understanding of the evolving RWD landscape within the healthcare industry.

Your profile
PhD (preferred) in a Quantitative science related field (e.g. Pharmacoepidemiology, Epidemiology, RWD Biostatistics, Pharmacoeconomics, Health Economic and Outcomes Research)
Minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience in healthcare or a related field. Prior experience working in Diagnostics industry is a plus
Experience in using advanced data science techniques to solve complex business problems
Experience in leading scientists in a global, regulatory environment
Expert knowledge of national and international coverage policies and proven experience in the use of RWD to influence reimbursement and clinical guidelines. Ideally experience in discussing (RWD) study setups with regulatory agencies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills (including interpersonal skills to navigate and deliver effectively in cross-functional team settings, ability to influence, ability to build strong collaborative relationships with scientific and non-scientific partners).
Very good knowledge of English in a business environment is a given (C1 level)
Locations
You will be based in St. Chugat, Barcelona area or Penzberg, Greater Munich Area . At the Company's discretion, an exception to the location requirement could be made under extraordinary circumstances.
As this position is a global role, international business travel will be required depending upon the business location of the successful candidate and ongoing business project activities.
