Structural Engineer 6
*This is a part time/temporary job working approximately 20-30 hours per week.
With high-level goals provided, performs QC Engineer duties for NYSDOT Biennial Bridge Inspections and NYPA Canal Structure Inspections. Based on workload, may provide guidance to younger engineers, team leaders, etc. for successful completion of inspection contracts. Reviews draft reports, inventories and flags for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and signs off on reviewed inspections. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all inspections. Performs structural condition assessments and field reviews of teams to insure thorough, complete and high quality field work.

Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case considerations that impact inspection work. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.

Position requires coordination and communication with clients to accurately determine the level of inspections and reporting that is required for successful delivery of the final product. May attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Performs other duties as required. Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline. NYS Professional Engineering (PE) license. 10 years of related experience. Previous NYSDOT, NYSPA Canal or NYS Thruway Authority inspection work. Current NHI-130055/130056 and NHI-130078 is preferred but not required. Domestic travel may be required but anticipated
