As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Equity Derivatives Technology Group, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. As a Java / DevOps Software engineer for the Equity Derivatives Group joining a team tasked with creating and supporting innovative software solutions for our sales and marketing platform and portals that advance our industry-leading Equity Derivatives business, supporting our clients in a first-class way.

You will join and collaborate with a global team of technologists at all stages software development pipeline creating high quality software solutions in an environment that encourages curiosity and innovation, grows talent, and applies and sharpens your multi-faceted software engineering skillset.

Job responsibilities

Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problemsGather, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systemsProactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architectureContribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologiesAdds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respectIntegrate, verify and release management of updates into the production environmentEnsure observability and tuning of the production environment to achieve the lowest latency and highest stability. Working with our application development and infrastructure partners to achieve this.Improve the CI/CD pipelines and overall developer experience. Participate and remediation actions of Post Incident ReviewsCreate, maintain and execute upon the results of Plant Hygiene and Metric Reporting

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experienceExperience with Java/JVM and the Java/JVM ecosystemWell-rounded software engineering skills across end-to-end software lifecycleGood understanding of software design patterns and clean code practicesSolid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and SecurityStrong written and oral communication skillsExperience partnering with product and engineering teamsAble to work on a diverse team

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Experience with object-oriented design and micro-service architectures and best practices and experience working on financial systemsExperience with finance / derivative productsExperience with the Java ecosystem including Spring, Web Services, and MessagingExperience with NoSQL / Big Data DatabasesExperience with Cloud Technologies e.g. Docker/KubernetesExperience with Java 11+ and / or additional JVM languages like Kotlin/ScalaExperience with Linux: understands the OS architecture, fluent in command line and scripting.
