As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, development, testing, and deployment of large-scale systems that handle billions of requests daily. We are building the next generation of content marketing systems to further scale up our business impact. You will have direct ownership over the design and architecture of new components, focusing on enhancing the platform's extensibility, scalability, availability, and latency.
A successful candidate will possess an established background in engineering management, strong technical abilities, excellent project management skills and communication abilities, experience in engineering hiring, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

Key job responsibilities
• Responsible for the overall systems development life cycle
• Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments aligning with business
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
• Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team
• Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
• Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

About the team
The Content Systems team owns the foundation of merchandising tools at Amazon. Our UIs and APIs provide Amazon employees with the best experience when creating and scheduling content for Amazon's customers. We enforce rules and guardrails through our APIs to protect the Amazon shopping experience. Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
