Amazon’s Transactional Data Storage (TDS) org builds database management systems at the core of Amazon’s consumer and digital businesses. We process trillions of transactions every day around the globe. Our Tier-1, mission-critical services fuel the growth of Amazon's businesses, including Retail, Prime, Kindle, Alexa, and many more. The performance and availability of our platform is critical to the reliability of the Amazon brand. We operate some of the largest fleets and the highest throughput services at Amazon. We are looking for seasoned, deeply technical SDM to drive the data transformation and data tiering space for next generation of transactional storage systems. As an SDM on Transactional Data Storage, you will lead a team to build and operate large document storage, data transformations and data tiering capabilities. You will own the roadmap of providing our partners and customers with a regionally flexible, cost effective storage with advanced management capabilities. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with other engineering leaders across orgs to define and deliver the future of storage for Amazon retail at hyper-scale. You will work across organizations spanning from business applications to our AWS infrastructure partners and drive the vision towards richer, but simpler application development, centered around data.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
