Key job responsibilities The Amazon Device OS Middleware team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create? Our software makes it faster to develop devices that are transforming the smart home and run Amazon services, like Alexa. Join us. As a Software Development Engineer on the Device OS Middleware team, you will be part of a team that owns critical OS framework components, services, tools, and application development frameworks - working on projects that push the boundaries of customer-device interaction. You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer product experiences. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. As part of your work, you will work closely with Amazon device software teams, product management teams, external partner developers, internal Amazon application developers, and Amazon service teams to drive development from the concept stage to the launch stage. A day in the life You will work with senior and principle software engineers to design, prototype an implement new OS features and use cases. You will write, build and debug the code you develop on both shipping and yet to be announce Amazon products. You will work in a creative environment where you can build and grow your software architecture, design, and development skills. About the team This role is part of a growing team of software engineers that is supporting a multiple Amazon Devices projects. The team works closely with product managers and internal teams to define and enable real, end user observable use-cases in a lightweight agile manner. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
