About the Role
As a Risk Manager (m/f/d), you will lead in-depth investigations into trademark infringement, counterfeit activities, and brand abuse, ensuring the highest level of protection for both customers and brands. You will work closely with a global network of specialists, influencing policies, tools, and technologies that enhance brand safety.
This role offers high visibility, partnering with Legal, Compliance, Customer Trust, the Counterfeit Crimes Unit, Brand Registry, and Amazon Leadership to drive strategic improvements and resolve complex brand protection cases.
Key job responsibilities
• Conduct holistic investigations into brand abuse reports, diving deep into trademark status, brand history, and selling partner activity.
• Identify root causes of escalations and develop preventive solutions to mitigate future risks.
• Engage directly with external brand owners and internal stakeholders to resolve high-priority cases.
• Provide data-driven insights to enhance Amazon’s fraud prevention tools, processes, and policies.
• Break down complex issues into actionable recommendations, influencing global brand protection strategies.
A day in the life
As a BEEM Risk Manager, you will be at the forefront of protecting brand integrity in Amazon’s global stores. A typical day includes:
• Leading complex brand escalations, analyzing brand profiles, trademarks, reporting history, and current protection measures.
• Reviewing and investigating reported products, taking decisive action to address potential infringement or abuse.
• Engaging directly with brand partners and sellers, ensuring compliance and resolution of disputes.
• Collaborating with internal teams to drive long-term process improvements and enhance automated brand protection measures.
• Driving high-impact projects that shape Amazon’s future brand protection framework.
About the team
Brand Escalation and Engagement Management (BEEM) is a worldwide team of Risk Managers experienced in the field of Brand Protection. We are an international and diverse team, collaborating closely while being located in different regions globally. We strive to identify, resolve and prevent brand-targeted abuse from the worldwide Amazon Stores. We handle escalations coming from brands and their internal Amazon stakeholders. We conduct holistic investigations, perform root cause analysis of escalation drivers, and pursue initiatives across global program teams to prevent future incidents related to the same root cause gap. We engage with brands and their stakeholders to support us during our investigation and de-escalate when needed.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor degree or equivalent.
• Proven experience in risk management, brand protection, compliance, fraud investigations, or intellectual property enforcement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience influencing cross-functional teams.
• Fluency in German (C1 level) and English with the ability to communicate fluently and professionally in all business situations (spoken and written).
• A proactive mindset, eager to solve challenging problems and contribute to a safer online marketplace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with intellectual property protection, impersonation, copyright, trademark or patent enforcement
- Experience with risk management, fraud, identity management and/or compliance
- Experience working with machine learning models and data science teams
- Master's Degree
- Business proficiency in additional languages, e.g. Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic
