The team has a strong focus on the delivery of projects. This position is crucial for providing technical expertise during project delivery and leading technical teams to develop and deliver the most appropriate technical solution for key water projects. **About the role:** The Principal Structural Engineer is accountable for leading carrying out/supervising structural consulting work including client management, scoping/securing projects, project management and supervision of other team members as well as undertaking and /or supervising the full range of structural analyses and designs undertaken by Stantec. Will provide technical expertise and leadership in all aspects of structural engineering and in ongoing contribution to the development of Stantec’s business goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan and developing key client relationships. **Essential Functions:** **Technical Capabilities** + Provide technical leadership on a range of water/wastewater, civil and building-related projects through developing, scoping, leading and undertaking design, supervision and review. + Provide technical expertise, direction, and coaching in terms of design, task allocation, monitoring of project progress and resourcing. + Provide technical capabilities in water/wastewater, civil and building structures. + Provide advice, solutions and project outcomes that create value for clients and provide Stantec with a differentiator in the market. + Plan, program, and coordinate assigned multidisciplinary projects as Project Structural Lead to deliver agreed-upon outputs on budget, on time, and to agreed-upon quality standards. + Deliver appropriately agreed quality of designs taking into consideration client project brief and risk appetite, project drivers, professional obligations and Stantec's reputation. + Provide effective technical and professional leadership/mentoring to intermediate/junior team members with a view to succession planning and building the overall technical capability of the team. + Prepare sketches and markups for drafting.
