Position Details

Job Title: Duck Creek Chapter Lead Function/Department: Technology Location: Hyderabad/Bangalore/Bhuvaneshwar Employment Type: Full Time Reports To:  Role Overview  Working with the Duck Creek Global Chapter Lead, the ‘India Duck Creek Chapter Area Lead' is responsible for the success of Chubb’s Duck Creek engineering practice for a large group within Chubb’s India engineering practice. The area lead will support and empower an organization of technical experts and directly manage a team of chapter leads who oversee these experts. The role will work as part of a Chapter leadership team in establishing roadmaps & guardrails to inform how development takes place in squads that focus on Duck Creek development. Looking across a large team of engineers, India Area Leads work with other leads to identify knowledge or skill gaps in the engineering group and work on training and talent plans to close them.   Chapter area leads also participate as senior engineers hands-on. This can take various forms but often involves short-term assignments assisting where the need is greatest. In this hands-on portion of the role, the area lead will leverage deep knowledge of the Duck Creek platform, strong architecture background, design thinking, and thought leadership to solve particularly hard technical challenges. Technical challenges are, at their base, ultimately human challenges. Thus, successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills as they work with stakeholders across many functions including operations, underwriting, and more.

 

Key Responsibilities

Oversee a group (40-60) Duck Creek engineers Provide leadership insight into “ways of working” for Duck Creek development squads Identify and plan solutions for talent gaps and challenges Oversee hiring of engineers ensuring we build the right talent Manage OKRs and deliver formal status updates for business and technology stakeholders Deliver formal presentations to small and large groups on OKRs, roadmap, and technical learning topics  Act as a senior engineer on some of the most challenging technical needs around Chubb’s Duck Creek Platform Oversee, build, and deliver estimates and plans around large/complex projects with resources from multiple departments and shared services from across the Chubb enterprise Communicate regularly in accordance with agreed upon communications plan Manage and deliver development projects within the allocated budget partnering with finance to ensure appropriate accounting treatment of costs Keep on top of Duck Creek Technology Product Roadmap and the industry trends including Digital Transformation, InsureTech, AI/Machine Learning etc

 

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field At least 12 years of software engineering and IT experience At least 8 years of experience working on IT projects for insurance  At least 6 years of experience on Duck Creek Policy Platform delivering insurance products and capabilities for multiple lines of business  At least 4 years of experience in leading technology teams Ability to operate as a senior engineer as-needed, configuring Duck Creek and assisting with .NET software components Deep knowledge of commercial and specialty insurance products and operational processes is required; expertise in assessing internal and external data needs to meet underwriting guidelines is required Experience in enabling agile transformation/implementation in medium to large projects/programs is required
