Job Description

The Power Electronics Engineer (m/f/d) is an experienced PE Engineer with previous experience on utility scale inverters (Multi-MW) and/or advanced power conversion technologies and topologies. It is the responsibility of the Power Electronics Engineer (m/f/d) to bolster and lead our cutting-edge global inverter development programs within the Vernova Electrification landscape.

Your Responsibilities

Own device characterization, double pulse testing, thermal and loss simulation modeling

High- and detail-level design of gate drivers, lamination, DC link capacitors, cooling concepts, inverter integration etc.

Deliver major input to the Controls team regarding switching strategies and details

Work with cross-functional and global teams to meet program objectives including non-technical requirements like milestone planning and reporting

Your Profile

Completed university Engineering degree in Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics or a comparable field, PhD a plus

Many years of subject-specific professional experience in Inverter design (e.g. Inverter/system level integration requirements like harmonics, thermal derating, efficiency concepts, protection strategies) or similar

Thorough and detailed knowledge in semiconductor devices operating principles, with a focus on practical applicability to for example shape the switching characteristics to avoid SOA violations or oscillations and to reduce losses

PCB design experience a plus, ideally in Altium or KiCAD

Experienced in programming, ideally with CPLD/FPGA (VHDL), C++, Python etc.

Well versed with PE tools as e.g. PLEX, MATLAB, Ansys

Familiarity with LEAN, Kaizen, Six Sigma a plus

Lab experience, e.g. familiar with scopes, function gens, general do’s and don’ts in an electrical lab desired

Very good technical understanding and communication skills, proven analytical way of working as well as experiences in organization, planning and managing

Fluent in German and English

High degree of initiative and motivation
