The Role Responsibilities:
Responsible for and completing onsite field work applying non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies and mechanical equipment knowledge to complete Digital Gear Inspections (DGI), Rapid Scan shell mapping (RS) and other services. Your role plays a crucial part in ensuring the highest level of technical expertise and you will become certified to Metso’s Training Program and applicable standards as required. In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager, Service Operations – APA East.
Ensures all equipment is functional, correctly setup, calibrated and maintained. Liaise with internal and site stakeholders to compile detailed site inspection plans and schedules. Oversee all aspects of inspection execution on customer sites. Complete gear cleaning using Metso proprietary system and automated equipment. Perform Digital Gear Inspections (DGI), RapidScan (RS) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). Apply testing criteria in accordance with company specifications for both conventional and advanced NDT methods. Perform stress relieving of cracks in gear teeth as required and in accordance with company specifications and procedures. Provides direction, guidance, and mentorship for the continuous development of trainee technicians and assigned trades assistants. Provide technical liaison services between clients, product divisions and sales personnel. Escalate issues to Technical Support and Engineering. Prepare detailed inspection reports, time sheets and expenses after site visits in a timely manner. Participate in technical evaluations and analysis of machine component failures including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) where applicable. Promote Metso products and services to clients.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Essential
NDT level II or above qualifications in Mag Particle (MT), Liquid Penetrant (LP), Ultrasonic (UT) and Thermography (IR) testing. Heavy industrial or mine site experience. Aptitude for fault-finding and natural attention to detail. Excellent communication, interpersonal and report writing skills. Intermediate computer literacy in MS Office – Word and Excel. Hold current or be able to obtain Work at Heights (WAH) and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) qualifications. Must have current motor vehicle license, be physically fit and pass company medical. Satisfy various client site access requirements (inductions and drug tests). Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics. Competency in all aspects of risk management and safety compliance. Ability to travel domestically and internationally within short notice. Productively work remotely (while travelling) for extended periods, extended hours or on weekends.Desirable
Qualifications and/or experience using Eddy Current Array (ECA) desirable. Knowledge of mill and/or kiln gearing and failure modes desirable.
