Dawson Mine is a large and dynamic open cut steelmaking coal mine operation made up of two operating pits - Central and South. It commenced operations in 1961 and is one of the oldest coal mining operations in Central Queensland with no signs of slowing down. Dawson Mine is rich in history, it was the first mine in Australia to export coal to Japan in 1961 and was the first mine to introduce draglines into its operation in 1963 – join the legacy today!

Job Description

We are currently seeking highly skilled Maintenance Supervisors to join Dawson Mine’s Maintenance Department. We are seeking applicants who possess the drive and passion to develop a culture focused on safety and lead a team of trades’ people to deliver planned and corrective maintenance.

In this role, you will report directly to the Maintenance Superintendent to provide technical support and advice to the Maintenance team on ways to optimise equipment reliability and availability. You will also have extensive experience with mobile mining equipment such as trucks, dozers, loaders, excavators, and graders. You will be required to ensure all mechanical tasks are carried out in a safe, timely and cost effective manner, whilst also maintaining focus on continuous improvement, strong leadership capability and knowledge of computer based maintenance programs.

You will be expected to assist with maintenance budgets and add value through developing strong team dynamics and a positive working environment. Additionally, you will support effective resource allocation (people, equipment, and resources) to meet maintenance work schedules, whilst consistently striving to achieve zero harm to employees and contractors.

QualificationsYou will possess mechanical trade qualifications or degree qualifications (such as mechanical engineering).Desirable Heavy Diesel Fitter Trade qualificationPrevious supervisory experience and completion of S1, S2, S3 are a minimum requirement.You will have a strong understanding of open cut mining equipment and mining techniques and a proven track record in leadership roles.
