The PositionWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal and Compliance Graduate to join our Legal and Compliance teams at Roche Diagnostics (Pty) Ltd. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in legal advisory, compliance monitoring, contract drafting, and regulatory affairs while working in a fast-paced and highly regulated industry. This role is ideal for a recent law graduate with a strong interest in corporate law, healthcare compliance, and data privacy.
The Opportunity
Conduct legal research and provide interpretations of laws, regulations, and policies relevant to the diagnostics industry.Assist in drafting legal opinions and advisory notes for internal stakeholders.Draft, review, and amend various legal agreements, including supplier contracts, service agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and partnership agreements.Assist in compliance monitoring by ensuring adherence to internal policies and industry-specific laws, such as healthcare regulations, medical device laws, and ethical guidelines.Support the implementation of compliance programs and risk assessments to identify potential legal and regulatory risks.Ensure employees are informed of legal obligations through training and awareness initiatives.Assist in ensuring compliance with data protection laws (e.g., POPIA) within the company’s operations.Support the development of data privacy policies and procedures to safeguard patient and customer information.Liaise with external legal counsel when necessary.Maintain and organize legal documentation, licenses, and compliance records.Who you are
LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification.Strong interest in healthcare, medical diagnostics, healthcare compliance, and corporate law.Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities.Knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g. POPIA) is advantageous.High attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools.Opportunities for Growth
