Role Definition
Leads the design, implementation and support of skill development initiatives and practices for Production workforce in a manufacturing plant.
Responsibilities:
Determine training and skill development needs and arrive at short term and long-term development plan for new recruits and all existing production workforce.Implementing programs with efficient use of resources, including working with vendors and technology solutions, to achieve learning goals aligned to business objectives.Coordinate with Caterpillar internal trainers, subject matter experts from Operations and Manufacturing Engineering for designing and conducting the classroom and practical training as needed.Develop curriculum, course modules, materials, etc. based on current and future manufacturing processes, technological requirements, new product introductions etc.Coordinate and deliver training courses in the traditional classroom setting or by other virtual mode.Maintain and upgrade technical learning center and training infrastructure needed for learning and skill development.Coordinates and interacts with external institutions for skill/training curriculum and certifications as needed. Maintain a pipeline of Trainers / Master Trainers for all skill trades. Evaluating existing curriculum or learning solutions and recommending appropriate approaches for improving the quality, cost, and value of training /skilling programs. Manages budget and Performs cost/benefit studies on skill /learning interventions.
Degree Requirement
Requires an engineering degree with 8-10 years of job-related experience. Must have extensive process knowledge and technical training experience in a specific area such as assembly, welding, or machining; Must be good in oral and written communication skills, inter personal skills and must have the ability to work with minimum supervision. Prior working experience in an OEM and Knowledge of various areas of plant operations is desirable.
