As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking - Payments Technology team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

 

Job responsibilities

Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 5+ years applied experience Hands on proven experience in the Java stack, with a focus on enterprise-grade software development. Expertise in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Kafka, MQ(IBM), Caching(Gemfire, Redis or equivalent), and RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL or equivalent). Adept in extreme programming strategies such as Test-Driven Development, Behavior-Driven Development, and pair programming. Expertise in developing highly available, fault-tolerant, self-healing, and highly secure systems supporting large transactional volumes. Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methodologies using tools like Jenkins or equivalent. Expert in using version control tools like Git or BitBucket. Expert in Agile delivery methodologies and familiar with tools like JIRA or equivalent. Practical cloud-native experience and advanced-level understanding of AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform. Strong understanding of enterprise design patterns and best practices.  Excellent spoken, written & presentational skills. Proven track record in managing and engaging in complex projects and delivering solutions rapidly.  Demonstrates strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to negotiate and plan effectively. 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Advocating AI tool adoption to enhance software development processes and outcomes is a plus. Understanding of event driven systems. Demonstrates high-level competency in maintaining technical and architectural documents using tools like Confluence or equivalent.
