As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

Work closely with product owners, stakeholders, and other team members to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment on project goals.Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders, providing updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.Identify and resolve technical issues and roadblocks, ensuring the team can deliver on its commitments.Actively participate in scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, contributing to the team's agile processes.Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.Extensive experience working with Java.Proficient in coding in one or more languages like Java, Spring & Spring Boot.Hands-on experience in AWS specifically ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, Step functions, storage services.Experience working in  Kafka, Cassandra/NoSQL, relational databases and front end technologies like React.Knowledge of CI/CD deployment with tools such as Jenkins, Maven or Gradle.Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Expertise in cloud-native application development and serverless computing.Strong understanding of security best practices and experience implementing them in cloud environments.Proven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience working in a Scrum team.Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in tech communities.
