Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (6 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities. Internship at ABB Corporate Research is an excellent opportunity to obtain industrial work experience, to meet people from many different countries, and to learn to apply theory in practice.The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-Hybrid This role is contributing to the Power Electronic Converters team in Baden-Dättwil, Aargau, Switzerland. You will be mainly accountable for:• Assist scientists in the design, optimization and development of power electronic converters, including topology evaluation and comparison, simulation of power electronic circuits, design and selection of power components, and design of PCBs and mechanical parts• Assist scientists in commissioning of converter prototypes and setting up experiments and laboratory measurement setups• Perform measurements on prototype converters in the laboratory• Support scientists in troubleshooting of experimental setups and data analysis/interpretation of measured results
Qualifications for the roleYou currently pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (enrollment to 5th semester or higher is essential) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar fieldYou possess at least basic knowledge in PCB design, preferably with Altium DesignerYou have practical basic experience in performing laboratory experiments and measurements, preferably with power convertersPrior experiences with isolated DC converters, simulation of power electronics (Plecs), transformer design or CAD design are advantageousYou possess high motivation and the willingness to learn new topics and develop own skillsYou are capable of independent work with self-initiative while also being a team playerYou are at ease communicating in English Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
