We are currently seeking a Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Leader to join our passionate, collaborative, result-driven team. You will play a pivotal role in further shaping and driving the organization’s HSSE strategy and continuing to drive our safety culture, ensuring safety is valued through everything we do. The HSSE leader is accountable for further developing a proactive safety culture within Stantec. They will inspire and educate our team to value safety in every action and decision, while also adhering to safety standards. They will lead culture driving initiatives aimed at enhancing safety awareness, mitigating risks, and continuing to embed our SaferTogether mindset in operations. The Leader of HSSE is the core of the team and will encourage continual progression of our safety culture and processes, always stiving for improvement. Collaboration is vital; the successful leader will connect HSSE with other teams to ensure HSSE practices are valued and amalgamated across all facets of our operations globally. We are looking for a leader who will inspire everyone at Stantec to help our people, clients, and communities stay safe, healthy, secure, and conscious of our responsibilities to the environment. As a people leader you will be expected to be in the office, on average, three days a week. **Your Key Responsibilities** **_Develop and Execute Stantec’s HSSE Strategy_** + In collaboration with the HSSE leadership and partnership with the business, further develop and execute HSSE priorities that align with Stantec’s strategy, values, and goals. + Build relationships and collaborate across various levels of leadership and stakeholders to effectively develop and implement the HSSE strategy and vision. + Maintain a deep understanding of the business and its structure to design solutions that align with long-term growth objectives, while seamlessly integrating robust HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) frameworks. + Ensure solutions align to and enable a culture of accountability, excellence, growth, and innovation. + Collaborate with team members to effectively communicate programs to our organization. + Lead, coach, and mentor the HSSE team so it is effectively aligned to the culture and needs of the business. + Maintain budgets while balancing cost-effective solutions while delivering impactful HSSE programs. + Develop metrics and/or benchmarks to measure success against targets and ensure accountability in tracking and monitoring initiatives. + Assist with HSSE efforts for acquisitions. + Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and further Stantec’s HSSE goals. + Promote and model Stantec’s HSSE culture. **_Leadership of HSSE Team_** + Act as a highly regarded leader, thought partner and source of counsel and advice for the business and HSSE team. + Build and lead a high-performing team that consistently meets and exceeds the short and long-term goals of the business. + Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and further develop Stantec's high performance culture with a focus on innovation, speed of decision making and action, and productivity. + Support, coach, and mentor team members, enhancing their capabilities, fostering their growth, and continuously improving their leadership skills. + Oversee resource management processes, talent recruitment, career & leadership development, succession planning, coaching, and mentoring. + Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the team. + Uphold a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, encourages individual integrity, and focuses on customer and service delivery. + Provide guidance to the team members on the execution of global strategy, and on leading and integrating our internal teams. + Enhance communication between various team members and clients to promote a positive work environment. + Promote a One Stantec mindset within HSSE to ensure consistent interaction with the business. **Your Capabilities and Credentials** + Highly accountable as a leader with demonstrated leadership ability to engage, connect, and motivate others, as well as empower and mentor employees. + Strategic mindset with demonstrated success in implementing strategic priorities. + Visionary outlook with the ability to adapt and change to circumstances. + Strong knowledge and understanding HSSE best practices. + Working experience and knowledge with regulations, standards, and systems in a wide variety of countries. + Demonstrated business acumen and knowledge of the industry. + Effective communication skills including, presentation, written and verbal skills to clearly convey information to a variety of audiences. + Ability to work collaboratively, foster teamwork and build and nurture lasting relationships with internal partners, our clients, and our employees. + Ability to travel to different Stantec offices. + Strong communication, negotiating and conflict management skills with ability to influence stakeholders. + Ability to thrive in a changing environment and deal with ambiguity. **Qualifications** **Education and Experience** + Minimum of 15 years of leadership experience with a strong focus in HSSE. + Bachelor’s degree preferable or equivalent in a related field. + Professional safety certification is an asset. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
