The Executive Director of the West Region serves as a member of the State and Local Government Relations (SGR) leadership team and oversees a staff of regional lobbyists representing the firm’s interests before state and municipal governments. SGR monitors legislative activities, analyzes policy and political trends, educates state and local public officials on issues of shared interest, collaborates with the firm's lines of business and internal clients about emerging issues, and develops the advancement of public policy priorities impacting the firm and our clients.
As an Executive Director of the West Region within State and Local Government Relations team, you will play a critical managerial role for the SGR team, providing senior-level guidance, support and connectivity with cross-line of business senior executives. Working alongside Corporate Responsibility (CR) colleagues, you will be responsible for the overall CR strategy, leadership and people management in market.
Job responsibilities
Manage a team of Regional State and Local Government Relations Managers and Associates, providing senior-level support and strategic guidance in the development and execution of advocacy strategies and legislative outreachSet and drive prioritization of markets and activities within the region to achieve core objectives and drive the market business planning processes within each priority marketManage response to negative social or political events/issues as they arise in marketLiaise with Market Leadership Teams, Regional Communications, Business Resource Groups, and other internal stakeholders to drive coordinated engagement strategies and minimize reputational and social risks for the firmIdentify state and municipal government issues of impact to the firm, as well as proactive opportunities and manage political riskUnderstand the broader legislative and political environment in the west region; anticipate trends, deploy commensurate strategies and track resultsRepresent the Department and Firm in relevant meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, policymakers, and other partners Provide the Head of State and Local Government Relations and JPMC senior executives with regular updates on progress of current projects and legislative trends Collaborate on strategy with Community Engagement and Global Philanthropy Regional Executives; regional communications colleagues; and Market Leadership teamsProvide oversight of regional Political Action Committee (PAC) spending and strategy Contribute to a culture of prudent risk management and adhering to the requirements of the firm's control environment
