Job Description

The candidate for this position will work as a member of a small team to perform scale-up/scale-down development of therapeutic biologics with strong emphasis on API proteins within the Large-Scale Development & Operations downstream (DSP) group in Malvern, PA. The candidate’s primary responsibilities will include a component of pilot-scale DSP operations execution, DSP data acquisition and modeling, and optimizing the process steps to be representative of the target process scale to ensure right first time technical transfers.

This will include:

Pilot-scale and occasional laboratory work with chromatographic purification and several types of filtration systemsRecord and analyze data, verify data integrity and accuracy, and report/summarize findings to the project development teamsDesign experiments to optimize DSP operations within the Large-Scale Development & Operations DSP group to ensure that they are representative of internal and external manufacturing sitesDraft technical documents, SOPs, and work instructionsWork in a team environment as well as contributing individually to meet project timelines and objectives

QualificationsMinimum of BS in scientific related discipline is required.Knowledge of and hands-on experience with DSP purification (chromatography, filtration) of protein therapeutics (such as antibodies) is required.Experience with scale-up/down of DSP, and/or execution at pilot or manufacturing scales for biologics manufacture is preferred.Exposure to analytical method development for in-process methods is preferred.The candidate must be highly organized and capable of managing/pursuing multiple projects with some supervision.Experience maintaining written records of work in the form of (electronic) notebooks, technical reports and protocols is preferred.Data reporting, ability to present findings to management, and experience with team-based collaborations is required.
