The Position:
 

The Distinguished Engineer drives SW Engineering Capability development based on continuous measurement & improvement across the Chapter’s delivery units in close alignment with the A&SE Chief Engineer function. Identifies and acts on economies of scale within DDS and across A&SE.

The Opportunity: 

Defining and establishing practices and policies for the SW engineering capabilities across the Chapter’s delivery units

Development and implementation of SW capability maturity assessment models in alignment with the Chief Software Engineer

Driving continuous improvements of the SW capabilities based on maturity assessment outcomes taking into account the different stages and maturity levels of the various delivery teams

Acting as a role model for applying and driving successful practices in SW engineering

Create and incubate communities of practice across DDS and participate in communities across Roche

Advocating for cultural shifts in software engineering practices such as inner-sourcing, automated testing and design for reusability

Expect ca. 20-40% of travel, depending on location. Towards higher end of range during first year when building a personal network and trust

Represent Roche at public and internal SW events (conferences, training sessions, workshops seminars, presentations, etc.)

Create and nurture a volunteer coaching pyramid - coach the coaches

 

Who you are:

Education: M.Sc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other STEM discipline – or show equivalent in combination of qualifications and professional experience

15+ years of experience in software development ideally in a regulated industry

Practical experience in multiple technology stacks in both frontend and backend technologies

Practical experience in different software product’s life cycle stages

Ideally experiences in different SW engineering disciplines like QA, DevOps, Product Ownership etc.

Beneficial to have had a public voice through open source, conferences or publications

Ability to shift focus from code-level random sampling to defining and driving overarching maturity improvement goals for the Chapter

Experiences in data analytics or data science is a plus

Experiences in SW maturity models and SW capability metrics is a plus

Exceptional communication and Software Engineering Excellence “Marketing” skills

Experiences in managing cultural and organizational changes is a plus

What you get:

Salary range 29 000 - 33 000 PLN  gross based on the employment contract (Umowa o pracę)

Annual bonus payment based on your performance
