The Director, Data Architecture is responsible for overseeing the Data Supply Chain for the omni merchandising organization, managing all aspects of the data journey including acquisition, management, storage, transformation, forwarding, and usage. The role also leads the vision, strategy, and roadmap of the Data Platforms portfolio, encompassing master data management, data governance, and all data processes. By partnering with cross-functional stakeholders, the role enables use cases that maximize business value by increasing revenue, reducing costs, and enhancing customer experience.
The role develops, drives, and delivers the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for the Data Platforms portfolio, managing resource prioritization to ensure the highest business return and appropriate levels of data expertise support for cross-functional projects. Building relationships and partnering with leaders across merchandising, supply chain, finance, IT, and other functions highlight opportunities for improved data/analytics to enhance business performance, resulting in a project roadmap with firm delivery dates and approved budgets.
The role also performs an active thought leadership role within the data office and overall data and analytics ecosystem. Effective management of large budgets, contractor teams onshore/offshore, and technology partners ensures optimized output within budget constraints. Leading a team of data engineers, business analysts/managers, systems architects, data visualization experts, and other data professionals, the role provides relevant technical guidance, feedback, and motivation to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Partnering with analytics/reporting/data operations leaders to share best practices and technologies elevates the discipline within the company.
