DevOps Engineer

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our fast-growing team and work on greenfield Insurtech products. You will join us at an exciting time as we evolve our portfolio from desktop/on-premise to cloud native, SaaS focused solutions. You will play a key role in assisting in the delivery of our flagship commercial lines offerings, with your primary focus on leveraging the latest best practice technologies to build and deploy robust, scalable and reliable distributed systems. This is an interesting and varied role, using a wide range of technologies, combining strategic work with short-term tactical fixes and improvements. You will build upon our DevOps culture across the Product and Engineering organisation, sharing modern practices and always challenging the status quo.

This role is open to flexible and hybrid working arrangements, with expected office attendance of around 2 days per week, in Reigate.  

The Role:

Working with the DevOps Lead, team and wider community to help design and implement scalable, secure, resilient and performant deployment pipelines & infrastructure.  Assist in the design and implementation of automated IaC tests.  Debugging tooling, infrastructure issues and performance bottlenecks, dispatching product-related issues to immediate stakeholders where applicable. Work within a culture of operational excellence, focusing on appropriate observability tooling (monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, self-healing).  Keeping up with the latest industry research and emerging technologies as well as promoting or showcasing internally.   Ensure compliance and alignment with wider governance policies and standards. Participating in methodology ceremonies as relevant (e.g. demos, retrospectives). 

The Requirements:

Proven experience in cloud technologies (ideally Microsoft Azure).Experience with C#, yaml and IaC technologies (ideally Pulumi or Terraform).Experience of Windows & Linux containers and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes). Autonomy, attention to detail, commitment to high-quality, ability to learn quickly and to innovate. Strong problem-solving skills, including providing simple solutions to complex situations.Strong team player with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively.

Other highly desirable, but not essential skills are:

Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols and services. Knowledge of security best practices and tools.Exposure to Harness (or Octopus, Jenkins) deployment tools.General knowledge of the Insurance Industry.Degree-educated with Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or relevant discipline.
