Due to the growth of our HVDC business, we are offering the significant role as “Construction Manager/ Project Manager for Construction Activities HVDC” in the “Construction & Commissioning” function to participate in this energy transition for Central Europe. The Construction Manager is responsible for the complete Construction Scope in a Large & Complex HVDC project. The HVDC sites are in Germany as well as in Asia for the platform construction.
The position holder reports to the Regional Construction Leader.
Mission description
In particular, the mission consists to:
Tender Phase (ITO)Leading the Construction Scope in the Tender phase, including participation in customer meetings/ negotiationsCoordinate/ Do costing & scheduling of site activities, like costs for the electromechanical installation worksLead the definition of contracting strategy (sub-con / partner) and its development and application throughout ITO phases with support from EHS, Quality, Planning & SourcingPrepare tender documents related to construction & Installation activitiesInitially prepare and arrange to take possession of the site infrastructure and develop and plan temporary and permanent site infrastructureActively participate to project teams from feed stages all the way through completion.Execution Phase (OTR)Leading the Construction Scope in the Execution phase, including participation in customer/ partner meetingsCoordinate with the Engineering teams and consortium partner for construction-oriented designsLiaise with design office for timely issuance of data required for preparation of site works (specs, designs, BOQ, material lists, …)Coordinate Construction activities with the consortium partner (shipyard)Prepare the Planning for the Construction Scope, publish progress reports and provide key inputs into Project monthly reportsResponsible for managing the risks and opportunities related to Construction & Commissioning activitiesSet goals and objectives for the site managers mobilized on his projectsImplementing, Monitoring, recording and reporting of the Health, Safety and Environmental performance of the project site as per GE EHS standards in collaboration with Site Construction StaffEnsure Construction Operating Rhythm is deployed on all sitesMonitoring, recording and reporting of the contractor work progress along with Site construction teamsNetwork & Links

Candidate requirements
Skills / Qualifications
An appropriate qualification in Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years of work experience would be advantageous but equivalent experience in construction execution and site management is also feasible.
Have appropriate health and safety experience, training and qualifications in line with international standards for roles of this nature to be able to identify and stop unsafe works.
Experience
Previous experience of undertaking the role of Project Manager/ Construction Manager on a large Substation Project.
Have previous experience in the installation of key elements of the project including, but not limited to the following:
High voltage switchgear (up to 400kV)Power transformersPower and control cablingKnowledge
Be knowledgeable on international standards and 'best practice' in relation to constructionBe knowledgeable on environmental legislation and good industry practice in relation to construction worksBe knowledgeable on the key applicable standards and specifications associated with the civil and electrical works construction applicable for countries in the regionStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility to be proactive and recommend and approve corrective actions if requiredWill be required to travel frequently across the region and to Asia to project sitesAbility to communicate effectively, and to accurately and concisely report both verbally and in writing.
