Compliance Officer Consumer Advocacy

Synopsis of the role:

This is an amazing full-time opportunity for an ambitious and hard-working junior compliance professional to join a dynamic team, where you can learn and grow your compliance and business skills. Reporting directly to the Senior Compliance Officer – Consumer Advocate for Canada, you will focus on regulatory compliance and consumer advocacy, performing a range of duties including evaluating all current and new compliance regulations and sub regulatory guidance, reviewing company processes and consulting with business teams on operational compliance. You will be developing and maintaining key compliance documentation and managing communications with various cross-functional stakeholders. To ensure success you will need good practical judgement, excellent communication skills and a business-minded approach.

What you’ll do

Demonstrate excellent communication, with in-depth knowledge of regulatory monitoring, regulatory interpretation, and regulation change management. 

Develop and implement company policies and regulations. 

Monitor, analyze, and brief business teams on regulatory changes. 

Further develop product compliance knowledge and provide guidance to the business. 

Validate business responses to regulatory changes. 

Design, monitor and assess compliance control systems. 

Review and evaluate company procedures and reports to identify hidden risks or common issues. 

Coordinate with different department managers to review departmental compliance. 

Perform periodic audits on company processes to ensure regulatory compliance.

Monitor and report on remediation requirements resulting from periodic audits.

Lead employee training sessions on legal and compliance issues.


What experience you need 

3+ years’ related compliance experience 

You possess sound business judgment and extraordinary analytical and contractual skills

You will have an exceptional ability to manage internal client and external regulatory expectations (balancing tight and/or conflicting deadlines)

Excellent writing and communication skills


What could set you apart

Bilingual (English and French)

You have previously had a compliance position in financial services or credit reporting industry

Background in a legal or related field (law clerk, paralegal, privacy analyst or officer, security analyst or officer)
