The Technology and Process Innovation team leads the following aspects within Weir, with a global remit, to bring new-to-Weir and new-to-mining flowsheets, product concepts, and technologies to benefit our customers:

Build future technology pipeline

Technology scouting & assessment

Technology acquisitions

Enterprise technology roadmap development and execution

New sustainable solutions development

Sustainable solutions delivery

Technology partner development

Process design, new flowsheet and product concepts development

Promote and drive in-house innovation

 

This role will support the Weir New Technology and Process Innovation team through provision of subject matter expertise in Comminution – both at the flowsheet development level, and at the minerals processing equipment level.

The role works closely with other minerals processing domain subject matter experts, our technology group teams, product groups, digital teams, and businesses.

You will be entering a business that is growing significantly in the comminution space. The initial key priorities for this role will be cementing your position as the Subject Matter Expert within the comminution domain and developing solutions at the flowsheet level. Key Responsibilities:

Execute and input into long-term roadmaps for comminution products, technology, innovation, and sustainable solutions.

Lead the technical evaluation of new comminution technologies (identified in the wider market and also via in-house innovation) and progress these through Weir's technology readiness levels.

Support/contribution to Digital solutions and lead the comminution related elements of the process simulation and control, optimisation/process recommendations, and condition monitoring of comminution equipment.

Contributing to thought leadership and representing Weir in industrial and applied research conferences and other forums.

Lead innovation processes for comminution equipment and flowsheets and support other innovation initiatives for other products.

Leadership through influence and project management, with effective communication, collaboration and stakeholder management.

Develop new engineering and analytical tools and methods to assess, improve, select, integrate/configure, and optimise comminution equipment and flowsheets.

Work alongside our Test Centers in defining test plans for new product or process development initiatives, and input into Test Centre best practices and future capabilities related to Comminution.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor's in Engineering – Minerals Processing, Mechanical or related discipline is required,

Postgraduate (Masters) in Minerals Processing or relevant discipline is required.

Postgraduate (PhD) in Minerals Processing or related discipline is highly desirable.

At least 10 years’ equivalent work experience in similar role in mineral processing equipment and systems.

Deep knowledge of, and experience with, a wide variety of comminution and classification equipment, flowsheets, and ore characterisation, survey and test work.

Knowledge and experience of manufacturing and assembly processes is desirable.

Demonstrable innovation and thought leadership in comminution

Chartered Registered Engineer is desirable.
