**About the role**
We are seeking a Senior Civil Designer to join our Community Development team in Canberra. Reporting to the Civil/Transport Team Lead, you will work on projects delivering solutions in Transport, civil, sports, land and subdivision projects within Canberra and surrounds. The role will suit an experienced Civil Designer who has worked on multi-disciplined civil projects for Councils, Local government, Main Roads, or developers.
Our approach to community development consulting covers master planned communities, mixed-use developments, parks, recreation facilities, and streetscapes. We activate urban downtowns, suburban centers, small towns, and rural areas—and the multimodal corridors that connect us to the places we work, live, and thrive.
Working as part of the team, with guidance from our senior engineers and support from our specialist engineering designers and technical leads, you will ensure that all projects are completed in accordance with relevant standards, specifications, and drawings. Your role is crucial in delivering high-quality outcomes to our clients, requiring a sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction processes. **Day to day tasks would involve:**
+ Oversee and manage projects, drafters and designers to ensure work output is of a technically high standard and activities are commercially viable for the business.
+ Lead the Project Design team through the provision of accurate and effective design documentation in an efficient manner.
+ Be a technical expert to support the Business Unit in the completion of design and documentation for transport, urban development, civil infrastructure and sports fields.
+ Be proficient in developing 12d/Civil 3D models for projects in line with the project brief and specifications.
+ Provide specialist technical input and advice into complex technical problems.
**Qualifications**
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
+ Associate Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
+ Minimum of 5 years of design experience in an engineering consultancy as a civil designer
+ Familiarity with local authority and state government approval and regulatory requirement
+ Experience in the operation of software design tools such as 12d, Synergy, AutoCAD packages and Civil 3D
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail and a strong focus on the production of quality outputs
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ongoing commitment to professional development through self-study, training and seminars, and maintaining your Continual Professional Development (CPD).
