We are seeking a business and contract lawyer to join the WTW legal team. The candidate will provide general legal advice and contracting support, primarily to the Benefits Delivery and Outsourcing businesses within WTW. The candidate should be able to advise business leaders on risks, provide legal support to new and changing business initiatives, and independently handle all manner of contracts, including complicated and non-standard contracts, in an efficient and business-friendly manner. The role is expected to work closely with other lawyers in the Benefits Delivery & Outsourcing (BDO) legal group and to report to the Assistant General Counsel for BD&O.
Candidates must have a strong contracting background. The preferred candidate may also have knowledge and experience in the employee benefits, health insurance, or financial industries. More specifically, knowledge of ERISA, Medicare, banking, insurance and/or privacy laws and regulations would be helpful. The candidate must be comfortable working directly with cross-functional internal business teams and external parties to handle complicated commercial contracts, as well as a variety of other corporate and commercial matters. The candidate must be effective in providing necessary advice and counseling internal clients in a solutions-oriented, commercial-friendly way. The successful candidate is preferred to work in a hybrid remote-office environment located in Arlington, VA, New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA, or Nashville, TN but exceptional candidates in other US locations will be considered for a remote work arrangement.
The Role
Draft, review and negotiate numerous standard and complex corporate and commercial agreements, including services agreements, insurance agreements, benefits administration agreements, business associate agreements, confidentiality agreements, consulting agreements, and vendor agreements. Provide legal advice on new and evolving business initiatives. Rapidly assess potential legal risks, benefits and consequences of decisions, present alternatives and propose solutions to achieve business objectives while skillfully managing legal and practical business considerations. Provide daily contract support and lead coordination and partnership with cross functional teams (sales, client management, IT, strategy, marketing, HR, finance, etc.) to achieve business objectives. Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients. Negotiate with other parties and leverage strong organizational and task efficiency skills to help the team meet contract targets and deadlines. Provide advice across the BD&O business segments on legal and regulatory issues related to corporate and commercial matters.The Requirements
JD from an accredited institution; admitted and in good standing to practice law in at least one state.At least seven to ten years of relevant experience; prior in-house experience a plus but not required.Employee benefits, Medicare, health insurance, financial, privacy and/or regulatory background preferred.Strong legal contracting background.Excellent judgment and integrity with the ability to think strategically and give timely, effective, and practical general corporate and commercial legal advice.Client service focus and the ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines and manage many projects in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently and proactively, including in work-from-home environments.Ability to work and communicate with colleagues and business clients in a professional, ethical, and positive manner as a team player.Strong attention to detail, along with excellent analytic, legal drafting and oral and written communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).
Compensation
The salary compensation range being offered for this role is $160,000.00 to $170,000.00. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
