The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and deploying high-quality applications on the z/OS platform. Responsibilities: * Design, develop, and maintain z/OS applications using COBOL, PL/I, and assembly language. * Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. * Participate in the analysis, design, and implementation of new features and enhancements. * Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of applications. * Contribute to the modernization of legacy applications, leveraging contemporary technologies and methodologies. * Document technical specifications, code, and design decisions. * Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in z/OS application development. * Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team. **Required technical and professional expertise** * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. * Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in z/OS application development. * Extensive knowledge of z/OS operating system, JCL, DB2, and IMS. * Proficiency in COBOL, PL/I, and assembly language programming. * Experience with version control systems (e.g., SCM, Git). * Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, UCD) and practices. * Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. * Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. * Professional certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Application Developer - z/OS) are a plus. **Preferred technical and professional experience** Hiring manager and Recruiter should collaborate to create the relevant verbiage.
